We understand that time is a precious commodity these days and that there are plenty of occasions in life where you just need the answer without lots of extra wording. Check out our Wax FAQ for some of the skinny on how Wax works.

Do you maintain the sites you design?
Not that we'd want to sound flip-floppish, but the answer here is both yes and no. While it’s true that maintaining the sites allows us to insure the quality of the design over time, we also have a few nifty WaxTools that allow clients to update specific areas of their sites on their own using their own browser. We built WaxTools to be relatively easy to learn (bonus) and allow a client specialized access to various parts of the site. Which parts? That was easy to determine. We've been doing this for many years and simply paid attention to the places where clients made the most updates, or wanted to make the most timely or last minute updates, such as an events calendar or home page items. And then there is the powerful WordPress software that we love (not just for blogging anymore) that gives tremendous control to clients.
The best of both worlds, yes? ![]()

Do you offer hosting?
Yes, we do offer hosting at very competitive rates, and while we don’t necessarily require that you secure hosting with us, we’d highly recommend doing so. Why? Well, the truth is that we’re intimately acquainted with our server, which means no learning curve. We can help with email and we understand how to access the right directories for upload. Sound like a bunch of techie trivia? Well, it’s important stuff, and if we’re trying to work our magic on someone else’s server it’s going to take more time—you know, that thing you don’t have a lot of and that costs money to boot? Yes, exactly. Save time. Save money. Now that’s always a good thing. ![]()

Is the founder of Waxcreative the same Emily Cotler who co-authored that web design book?
Ah, now we’re blushing! Yes, indeed, Emily co-wrote the bestselling Web
ReDesign 2.0: Workflow That Works with Kelly
Goto. In its
second edition and translated into 14 languages, Web
ReDesign is considered
a must-read for anyone searching for a cohesive web workflow plan that
will help save time, money, and headaches. And, incidentally, what we follow
here at Wax. ![]()

Do you use templates or clip art?
Wax creates all of our designs from scratch. We never purchase pre-made
templates. Some designs within the WaxExpress program do utilize similar
layouts, though the visuals will be unique. As for stock photography or
illustration, we will on occasion use it or more often, alter or customize
it. Bottom line, it’s in your best interest (and Wax’s) to create a custom
site that uniquely communicates who you are and what you do—and how that’s
different from every other single person on the planet. So, that’s what
we do. It just makes sense ![]()

Will Emily be the one designing my site?
Emily oversees all projects. She is Wax’s Creative Director—a title she
takes to heart with great passion and gusto. Nothing reaches the web without
her input and vision. It takes a village to launch a truly effective website
these days, or at least a tight team. Meet Misono and Claire,
Wax’s designers. And Abi and Tarrin are
instrumental as well. Emily and her Dream Team -- you’re in good hands. ![]()
